PEO - International Students

International letterwinner alumni may participate in PEO; however, due to their immigration status, additional considerations must be observed.

  • To take advantage of the internship option in the United States, international letterwinner alumni must seek an F-1 Optional Practical Training (F-1 OPT) visa. This will require the individual to apply for an employment authorization document (EAD) with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). This will require the letterwinner alum to coordinate with UNL's International Student and Scholar Office (ISSO).
  • International student-athletes are permitted to use PEO funding for an internship in their home country.
  • Due to current immigration regulations, international letterwinner alumni may not participate in the study abroad option.
  • To take advantage of the graduate school option, international letterwinner alumni must be enrolled in a degree-granting graduate or professional program at an accredited university.

*Please note, Nebraska Athletics and its staff cannot guarantee all letterwinner alumni will meet the above requirements outlined for internships or graduate school.
