Ahron Ulis did not play in 2023-24 and will have one season of eligibility remaining.
Before Nebraska
Ulis spent three seasons at Iowa, helping the Hawkeyes to three-straight NCAA Tournaments before transferring to Nebraska in May of 2023. He started 27 games in 2022-23, averaging 6.1 points, 2.1 assists and 1.6 rebounds per game. Ulis had a career-high 17 points on 8-of-10 shooting at Michigan State on Jan. 26, which was one of five double-figure efforts that season. Over a three-game stretch against Ohio State, Michigan State and Rutgers in late January, Ulis averaged 15.0 points per game on a 60.7 shooting. He also had 15 points on 7-of-8 shooting against TCU. Ulis also dished out a season-high five assists without a turnover in 22 minutes against Georgia Tech.
Ulis played a significant role in the Hawkeyes' Big Ten Tournament championship team in 2021-22. He averaged 3.1 points and 2.1 assists while his 73 assists ranked second on the team. He shared the team's Top Playmaker Award. He posted a pair of double-figure efforts and had seven games with at least four assists, including a career-high eight assists against Western Michigan and seven assists without a turnover in 24 minutes against Illinois. He appeared in 17 games as a true freshman in 2020-21 and dished out a season-high four assists against both Rutgers, Nebraska and Oregon in the NCAA Tournament.
At Marian Catholic, Ulis was a two-time East Suburban Catholic Conference (ESCC) Player of the Year and was named to the AP All-State Class 4A First Team as a senior, as he averaged 20.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. He led Marian Catholic to 78 wins in his final three seasons as starting point guard, including 27 victories as a junior, the third most in school history, and totaled over 1,500 points to rank second on the school's all-time scoring list. Ulis led Marian Catholic to its first third-place finish at the Illinois 3A state championship, as well as sectional and super-sectional championships in 2019. He played two summers on Nike Meanstreets AAU and played in the Peach Jam in 2018 and 2019.
Personal
The son of James and Leslye Ulis Ahron was born on Oct. 4, 2001 in Chicago, Illinois. He has three siblings (Tyler, Jay and Anton Porter). Ahron majors in human development and family science at Nebraska. His older brother (Tyler) played two seasons at Kentucky and was a consensus All-American in 2016. Tyler Ulis was the No. 34 overall pick Phoenix Suns in the 2016 NBA Draft and played three seasons with the Suns and Chicago Bulls.
